Clumsy Attempt By TC Michael To Stick It To Google

Lately I’ve been wondering how come tech bloggers spend so much time sucking up to large technology companies (the answer: they want them as sponsors). Michael Arrington of Techcrunch is known to be an entrepreneur of controversies, and from some odd reason, he decided to take a shot at the big G. But instead of a standing ovation, he gets a Null Post award.
Michael can’t understand how come Google advertises anti-gay marriage ads while Eric Schmidt, Google’s CEO, objects a bill that bans that type of marriage. That is an outright absurd post. What are you saying Michael, that if Larry or Sergey (Google’s founders) bought a 100′ LCD from Sony and the colors were just not right, Sony should be banned from Google’s advertisement network? Who decides where to draw the line? That’s just a crap post.
Micheal is smarter than this, and the only reason he wrote that post (on such a sensitive subject) was to draw as much attention to TC. And it worked - he got over 300 comments on that post already.
Since we got off with Techcrunch, here’s another Null Post, this time from Erick Schonfeld. He writes nothing about Sun’s mega losses (about 1.7B$, I’m sure there were better things to do with that much money). The post is short, and it’s actually just a lame excuse for TC to post a not-so-funny Steve Gillmore clip, making fun of Sun’s CEO, Jonathan Schwartz. Fortunately, Michael is blessed with a sense of sarcasm. His comment on the posts acknowledges it as a Null Post - he admits it’s a “slow news days”.
And finally, if you want to know how a technology blog should NOT look like, take a look at Cnet’s ‘Beyond Binary’. The title sounds innocent enough, but what’s under the hood is really a suck-up blog to Microsoft.
According to its description, the blog ‘.. looks at how technology is changing our lives and the people behind that technology, with an emphasis on Microsoft‘. You gotta be kidding me. Microsoft is so-not-changing-our-lives anymore. Google might, Apple might, but Microsoft??? The whole point of blogging (as oppose to traditional media) is to add your own insight into the boring press release, technological conference and other marketing techniques used by these companies. No insight on Beyond Binary.
Anyway, since today is election day, if you are interested election result updates, you might find this post by NewTeeVee useful.
